This Is What Kurdistan Is All About

Today we're in the ancient mountain city of Akre and what a place it is. Kurdistan is flipping gorgeous. We kicked the day off nice and early around 6am for a beautiful breakfast of freshly baked bread, nuts, mountain honey, tahini, different cheeses, clotted cream and copious amounts of tea. This was no joke probably one of the greatest breakfasts we've had in a long time. Next we went for a walk around Akre, we found a viewpoint looking over the grand mosque and soaked in the views before having a good old lamb sandwich. While browsing the local cigarette shop the owner invited us to try some homemade snacks which were pretty good. We then headed into a restaurant overlooking the city where I had a fresh orange juice and an accidental sleep! When we returned home the owner of our hotel wanted to give us a tour of their traditional old Kurdish house so we had a look around and checked out the garden where we were gifted some fresh oranges and eggs. Our new friend then offered to take us hiking up the mountain, what I thought would be a little hike turned into an absolute trek! I ain't complaining though because the nature around Akre is absolutely incredible, this part of the country is ridiculously beautiful. Once back down we met a local character, ate some cheese bread then had some sandwiches which a local man paid for! To end the day here we tried some of Akre's famous goats milk ice cream, this stuff was bloody good. I'll say it again Akre, Kurdistan is flipping gorgeous. Subtitles Available!
