MY FIRST RIVER MONSTER! I Never Caught a Fish This Big

I went down to the spillway on 5/2/2024 and it was a little crowded. It was later and a decent day so it had 15-20 people on it. The first two places I wanted to try had people in them so after waiting a short time I put on a small live fish and walked it across the current from the top of the dam. I was a little annoyed I couldn't get a lazy spot to sit at but that changed quickly! I hooked something so big I was worried I snagged one of the huge lake sturgeons that have been in here since it opened, probably to spawn. Luckily it was soon clear it was not a large sturgeon and something I wanted to get ever since I moved to Wisconsin and started fishing here in 2022! Thanks to the guy who handed me the net which was close to being out of reach. Gear/Tackle Shakespeare Tiger Combo, 30lb braided line, 2 ounce slip sinker, 30lb wire leader, size 3/0 circle hook with a small live sunfish. 3/0 was far too small today but it got the job done.
