Rapper’s Delight / Beatles / Billie Eilish / Pink Floyd-covers by Mia multi-instrumentalist/Insta 13

Now what you hear is not a test… It’s me learning how to play :) Rappers delight by The Sugar Hill Gang was the first rap song that I ever decided to memorize. Somehow, my Dad knew the lyrics so that’s all I wanted to listen to on the way to 1st grade for about a month. I heard Joe Dart from Vulfpeck jamming on the bass line recently and I immediately got my bass to figure it out. As I was trying to get comfortable with it, it became pretty clear how much fun it would be to cover. The Beatles are pretty much sacred to me so I’ve tried to do, Two Of Us, justice. I think Billie Eilish is doing some pretty creative work in popular music today and Pink Floyd’s, Wish You Were Here, is one of my all-time favorite songs. In the spirit of letting interesting background sounds into the recording like Pink Floyd, I even let Frisco stay in the room and snore along while I recorded it. It may take headphones, but you can hear him pretty clearly in the end. All of these short videos and lots more like them are on my Instagram account @miamorrismusic - With this IG stuff, I only take a couple of hours to learn, record and post so I can do them right after school on some days. It's fun to be able to do some quick projects of songs I really love or grooves that I think sound cool. I hope you find them entertaining. One other social media I do is Spotify. If you like my original music, you should probably find me and follow me on there. Streaming music is turning into the new radio station and I’m going to try to work on putting more of my work up on a consistent basis. I’ve had several people inquire about how they might be able to help me out. At this point, what would help me the most is to keep growing an audience of people that have a genuine interest in my music and my musical journey. If you like any of my videos, watch them all the way through, (several times if you’d like), give them a like, comment, subscribe to my channel and share my work with anyone and everyone you know. There is a SHARE link right under the video player that makes it pretty easy. If you have a Facebook or Twitter account, post my videos on there and encourage your friends to share them as well. Regardless, THANK YOU for taking any interest at all in what I do and I hope I can continue to earn your support. I’m 14 years old and I want to be a musician when I grow up. I try to play lots of instruments but the one that I feel most at home on is a drum set. I would say the only thing that impresses me more than a great musician is a great songwriter so I also spend some of my time trying to learn the magic of songwriting. I thought it would help me keep focused on music if I started a drum series where I learned a new song every couple of weeks. After 4 years, it’s now turned into a larger musical search but my goal hasn’t changed. Hopefully, I will keep doing it, keep loving music and keep getting better.
