Baseball Palaces Forgotten: Shibe Park/Connie Mack Stadium

A beloved and iconic theater for baseball, Shibe Park (later renamed Connie Mack Stadium) stood from 1909 through 1970. The palatial venue hosted two All-Star Games and eight World Series. It was the home of the American League’s first night game. Such legends as Frank “Home Run” Baker, Eddie Collins, Charles Albert “Chief” Bender, Jimmie Foxx, Robert “Lefty” Grove, Mickey Cochrane, Richie Ashburn, Robin Roberts, Johnny Callison, and Dick Allen called this grand cathedral for our nation’s pastime home. #mlb #baseball #satdiums #ballparks #shibepark #ConnieMackStadium 📲Come join the Philadelphia Baseball History community through Patreon.
