The Men's Javelin Throw event kicked off at 20:25 (local time) at Le Stade Olympique de la Pontaise on August 26, 2021. The average temperature that evening was 21.11 °C (70 °F), the Atmospheric Pressure was 723.9 mmHg, and the Humidity was 52%. The City of Lausanne is located at an altitude of 526 meters (1,726 feet) above sea level, on the shores of Lake Geneva (Lac Léman), on the French-Speaking part of Switzerland (Romandy). The Men's Javelin Throw featured nine athletes, all of them Tokyo 2020 Olympians: the Reigning World Champion Anderson Peters (Grenada), Gatis Čakšs (Latvia) and seven Olympic Finalists: Johannes Vetter (Germany), Adrian Mardare (Moldova), Pavel Mialeshka (Belarus), Aliaksei Katkavets (Belarus), Alexandru Novac (Romania), and the Olympic Silver Medalist Jakub Vadlejch (Czech Republic), and his compatriot Olympic Bronze Medalist Vítězslav Veselý. The Final Three (The Qualification) Vadlejch (Czech Republic) qualified on his second throw (85.73m). Peters (Grenada) qualified on his fourth throw (84.32m). Vetter (Germany) qualified on his third throw (88.54m). The 2017 Former World Champion Johannes Vetter (Germany) bested his colleagues with a Final Javelin Throw of 86.34 meters. Thus, his best throw of the event was marked on the Final Result Table: 88.54m, a 9.431% decrease in distance compared to his Personal Best of 97.76 meters (National Record, 2020).
