Jacksonville Fire Rescue Department responds to a fire at a landfill that goes 2nd alarm

JFRD responded to a fire at a landfill. With heavy winds and dry conditions, a second alarm was called as this became a very manpower intensive battle. There were no structures involved, and no lives in imminent danger, but this fire had to be dealt with. Multiple engines were needed along with ladder crews to put their ladder pipe to work. Because there were no hydrants nearby, ponds were used to draft from, and a relay pump system was put in place to supply the ladder and engines. These are not the glamorous fires to work, but necessary just the same.
