Medium of fans STORYLINE: Director Sofia Coppola premiered her new biopic, "Priscilla," at the 80th Venice International Film Festival Monday. She was joined by Priscilla Presley, Jacob Elordi and Cailee Spaeny. The movie, about Priscilla Presley and her life with the King of Rock 'n' Roll, Elvis, is based on the 1985 memoir "Elvis and Me" by Priscilla Presley and Sandra Harmon. The film is in competition for the festival's top prize, the Golden Lion, along with 22 other films. Cailee Spaeny ("On the Basis of Sex," "Devs," "Mare of Easttown") stars as Priscilla alongside Australian actor Jacob Elordi ("The Kissing Booth" teen film franchise, HBO's "Euphoria") as Elvis. "Succession" actor Dagmara Dominczyk co-stars in the movie, which will be released in the United States on 27 October 2023. The real Priscilla Presley acts as executive producer on the film. American filmmaker Damien Chazelle will serve as Jury President for the main competition in Venice. The festival at the Venice Lido runs 30 August through 9 September 2023. The festival will also showcase films by Woody Allen, William Friedkin, Richard Linklater, Roman Polanski, Harmony Korine and Wes Anderson, screening out of competition.
