We take on payments we can't afford or take on debt for unnecessary things, and it ultimately leads to many problems that harm our future self. I genuinely believe that as long as you don't make decisions to self sabotage yourself, then the universe is on your side. In this video, I share, "5 Common Sense Lessons To Avoid Self Sabotage." 1. Nobody Is Looking Your Out For Your Self Interest We live in a dog eat dog world where everyone is trying to get ahead, and in this world it is important to look out after your own self interest because nobody is looking out for you. In our consumer driven society, companies will spend a lot of money on advertisements acting as if they are looking out after your best interests; however, once you hand them the money, they are quickly out of your life and you have to deal with the consequences. We self sabotage ourselves thinking that others are looking out for us. In order to avoid this self sabotage, it is important to look out after your own self interests. 2. Ask Questions First, Make Decision Second Consumerism works so well because it is an exciting thing to spend money. And when it comes to spending money, most people will make the decision first and ask questions later. Many people will deal with financial matters when it is too late that it leads to consequences that are self sabotaging. It could easily have been avoided if they simply asked questions before making the purchase. In order to avoid this type of self sabotage, it is important to ask questions first, and when you are 100% that it is a wise decision, then make the decision. 3. Help Is Never On The Way We often put a lot of faith in complete strangers believing that people we don't know will help us with our financial situations. We often hear the phrase "help is on the way," and justify bad financial decisions believing that with no effort things will work out in the future. This leads to self sabotage because it prevents you from taking action in your life. In order to avoid this type of self sabotage, it is important to expect that help isn't coming and solve your own problems. 4. You Don’t Deserve It Many people justify a bad financial decision by saying, "I deserve this." Many people might believe that since they are working at a job they don't enjoy or they are miserable in other areas of their lives that they deserve to take on debt for unnecessary purchases. This leads to self sabotage because it puts people in a financial situation that they cannot afford. In order to avoid this type of self sabotage, work for what you get in life and then you will actually deserve it. 5. Consumerism Is Self Sabotage When you really hone in on this consumerist norm where people buy things they don't need with money they don't have to impress people that they don't like, you realize that it is really just a life of self sabotage. We often make financial decisions that go against our own self interest and lead to many problems down the road. We need to focus on looking out after ourselves and not making decisions that go against our own self interest. In order to avoid this type of self sabotage, it is important to consume intentionally and be wise with your financial decisions. ** Links above are affiliate links where if you click and order, I will receive a commission at no cost to you. **
