Welcome to Zildjian Sound Lab Videos. In this installment we talk about and play the 18" FX Oriental China "Trash" with Paul Francis. He plays the cymbal and explains the great features of one of Zildjian's most popular China cymbals. Here's a transcript of the video: Paul Francis: Welcome to the Zildjian Sound Lab video. Today we're going to talk about our Oriental Trash series. These cymbals were originally introduced in 1993, and were an addition to the China High's, and Low's and the Swish cymbals that Zildjian already had in the catalogue. Some of the unique features of this cymbal is it's very, very thin. It has a square bell like most China's do. It's lathed with a smoother lathing which we refer to in the factory as kind of an A Custom style lathing. And the cymbal, after it's completed, is hammered again, and then we apply a brilliant finish, high gloss to it. The cymbals are very, very dirty and trashy, and very, very quick.
