Lal Muhammad iqbal was the composer of this song for the pakistani fim jaag utha insaan in 1966 .sheikh hasan the director of the movie proposed dukhi sahib to write a song comparable with shakeel badayuni 's famous song chadhavi ka chaand Ho yaa aaftaab Ho.. Dukhi sahib reminisced "it was a very difficult challenge to me, somehow I sat down in a corner, scribbling aimlessly in a paper. Suddenly the second misra(ik dilruba hai dil m jo) emerged from subconscious mind, I jotted it down. Meanwhile shaikh hasan entered the room. He was glad to hear this misra, he kept humming it. Within half n hour the first misra flashed through my mind. He completed the remaining song with in 10 min. Though it did not win. But this song was put up for nigaar award in best category. Time to time this song again recreated by the top most singer of Pakistan Mr. Sajjad ali ji. I m huge fan of sajjad Ali ji. After so many years me, as Latika Arora recreated this song.
