We drive the 2023 Peugeot 308 hatchback, which cops a significant price increase in return for a more logical interior and excellent driving dynamics. Peugeot is not giving up on small cars in Australia. It’s bringing back its 308, now in third-generation form, with both 308 hatchback and 308 SW station wagon body styles. The main engine is a 1.2T three-cylinder but there will also be a 1.6T four-cylinder plug-in hybrid model coming in 2023. The Peugeot 308 competes against the Volkswagen Golf, Mazda 3 and Hyundai i30, but Peugeot would also like it to be seen as a rival to the BMW 1 Series, Mercedes-Benz A-Class and Audi A3.
