Russia Claims Military Hit, Blames Kyiv Air Defence As Ukraine Says Dozens Killed In Missile Barrage

Russia launched a massive barrage of missiles on Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities in a rare daytime attack on July 8. The missile blitz reportedly killed at least 31 people and hit Okhmatdyt hospital, Ukraine's largest children's medical centre. Kyiv city authorities claim at least 17 people have been killed and 25 wounded in the deadly strike on the capital. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said the hospital’s windows were smashed and panels ripped off in one of the heaviest attacks on the city since February 2022. Ukrainian President Zelensky said the Russian forces fired more than 40 missiles targeting different cities.
