Subaru EJ20/25 Hybrid Engine Build | Extremely Satisfying & Relaxing

In this extremely satisfying engine build video I assemble the long block that will be used in my 2003 Subaru WRX. The 2.0L cylinder heads are mounted to the 2.5L short block that didn't come in the WRX until 2006. This is known as a "hybrid" engine. This can be achieved by using a thicker head gasket in order to account for the difference in compression. Many people believe that you must have a machine shop open up the chambers of the heads in order to match the 2.5L block, however this isn't completely true. If you are building the car to make anywhere from stock to about 350whp, running a thicker head gasket has been used by many people with great success.
