What is Candling and Why is it so important?

What is Candling and Why is it so important? Have you ever heard of the term “Candling” and wondered, “what is that?”. Here is a video of how to candle and what to look for. Candling is a method used to observe the growth and development of an embryo inside an egg which uses a bright light source behind the egg to show details through the shell. It is so called because the original sources of light used were candles. If you want to know if your eggs are fertile or not, this is how you test it! Remember, you can only see if an egg is fertile after the embryo starts developing. A simple way we often explain it is: if there are many women walking around in a mall – you can’t see who is pregnant, but she can already by pregnant just walking there. You will only know from the outside if the belly is showing. The same with an egg. The first few days you can’t see, but after about 5 to 8 days when the egg has been in an incubator, the baby started growing (belly is showing on a woman) and you can candle the egg and see the chicken developing inside the egg. Watch the video and see the difference between fertile and infertile. Please bear in mind, it is very hard to candle with the lights on, and difficult to film with the lights off, so we would like to direct you to our blog where you can read more if you want more information: https://www.deltaincubators.co.za/blo...
