Challenge Anneka Theme Music - Full Version (Beach Buggy Mix)

The Challenge Anneka theme music, by David Mindel, has always been a favourite of mine. I wanted more of it, so here is the Cut & Thrust full version, aka the Beach Buggy Mix. Challenge Anneka aired in the UK on BBC1 from 1989 to 1995. Made by production company Mentorn Films, the series was devised and hosted by Anneka Rice who would be given a task to accomplish within a limited time (usually 2-3 days) and would have no prior knowledge of what the task was going to be. Her challenges were usually in aid of a charitable cause (building a play area for children within the local community for example) and the format of the show first appeared in 1987’s Children in Need - the BBC’s own charity and annual telethon. Using a large blue truck and beach buggy, Anneka would travel the country with her (huge) mobile phone and camera crew, persuading companies and people to contribute their time and resources for free. Like many light entertainment shows of the 80s and 90s, the theme music, by David Mindel, was a huge part of the programme as were the animated opening titles featuring Anneka as a kind of whirlwind fix-it type Wonder Woman!
