BMW S1000XR 2021 First Ride (Guest Starring the BMW R1250GS)

Well this day did not go to plan! That plan was to take the XR out for a couple of hours and then come back to Lind Motorrad and take out the GS. I was going to compare them as road bikes, weighing up their pros and cons before deciding which one I liked best and along the way hopefully give you folks some pointers if these two bikes were on your shopping radar! Well... the first problem was that it started raining while I was out on the GS and it got wet enough so that I couldn't compare the bikes anymore which was pretty disappointing. Then I hit the pheasant! That stopped play and I had to abandon the test ride. This video would have been in two parts but since I had to finish the GS ride early there wasn't much point in making that a separate one. But at least I got a good feel for the XR which I feel is a very competent and occasionally exciting bike... but I don't think it is for me. The GS on the other hand has me thinking about my next bike! https://www.lind.co.uk/bmwmotorrad https://www.bmw-motorrad.co.uk/en/mod... https://www.bmw-motorrad.co.uk/en/mod... Timestamps 0:00 Welcome and the plan for today 0:35 That seat... 1:22 The windscreen at slow speeds 2:12 Can I get my feet down easily? 2:48 Where is Hill Hold? 3:24 Handy din socket for my USB adaptor (not sponsored!) 4:02 How is the front-end dive on this non-Telelever machine? 4:38 Specs list: Dual carriageway speeds (vibes/mirrors) 6:24 No vibes to speak of at lower speeds 6:36 Quick shifter at slow speeds 7:03 Engine is nice and tractable 7:20 I get to see the rear lights of a new S1000RR 7:46 Rejoining the carriageway.... The XR is the same but I hadn't figured that out at the time. I added an on-screen note about this on the GS ride, but later on while editing the video, I entered a more definitive note in the section about the XR which comes first! So the on-screen notes make it looks like I was more certain of myself earlier in the video than I was later on - sorry it comes across as confusing! This explanation probably hasn't helped 😂
