Since All Star mode is hard in Brawl and in Project M I will only clear this mode with few characters. Metal Mario can really endure a lot of damage, something that helped me to clear this mode. It's also good to see some of the new characters included in All star mode ( just Mewtwo, Roy and Knuckles), but adding more will without doubt increase the difficulty of this mode A LOT.
