Astolat Model Railway Circle 2019 Exhibition – Guildford – 20th January 2019

An excellent show today, we have included 10 layouts from today, hope you enjoy. Duffield Lane Pit – O-16.5 NG. This is a work in progress. The aim of the layout is to show that it is possible to have a narrow gauge double track circular railway system including a fiddle yard on a relatively small board. The layout depicts a run-down private lime/chalk quarry linked to a processing plant by a 2ft 3in Narrow Gauge railway. The End of the Line – O/014 – The End of the Line represents the distribution point of a very small coal mining operation in the early 1960’s. Wickwar – N Gauge – Farnham and District MRC Wickwar is a small town on the important secondary line between Bristol and Gloucester modelled as it was early to mid 1950s. The layout uses either DC or DCC, the control electronics are based on MERG modules and the MERG CBUS system. Hayling Island – OO Just off the south coast of England is Hayling Island. At the end of the nineteenth century the railway had been constructed for the use of goods and the local community. After the 2nd world war it became a well visited holiday resort by both holiday makers and day-trippers during the summer months. Dufftown and Craigelliachie Brickworks – OO-9 – Brighton MRC. This depicts a fictional narrow gauge whisky railway on Speyside in North East Scotland. Nictun Borrud – OO Gauge – Fareham & District MRC This is set somewhere in the rolling chalk downland of the Hampshire Downs. It represents the terminus of a small branch line with some freight facility and is set in the late steam/early diesel period. The layout is built to finescale OO standards and features mostly kit built Southern Region 3rd Rail Electric units. *** I have just noticed that I have accidentally duplicated a clip from Hayling Island at the end of the Nictun Borrud video - apologies **** Ivley Magna – N Gauge – Woking Miniature Railway Society Modellers The layout represents a bit of the West Country in the 1950s (BR Southern). The continuous main lines (up and down) serve a station which has two through roads, passenger loop, bay platform and goods yard. Over The Top – 1/32 Scale – 60cm gauge and gauge 1. The model represents the final stages of the 1st World War somewhere along the western front. Ashbury Wharf – Astolat MRC This is the oldest club layout and has recently been restored to operation and a complete rewiring and some track work repairs. It was built nearly 60 years ago and is in remarkably good condition. It depicts a busy port serviced by a narrow gauge freight railway. Much Murkle – population 1452 according to the 1931 census is set in a fictitious 1930s community in Herefordshire. It is served by a single track branch from the equally fictitious junction at Newent on the Gloucester to Hereford Line. We hope you enjoy. Steve and Anne – Steam and Model Railways
