1903 100hp Napier S.F.Edge raced this car in the Gordon Bennett race in Ireland.

The fastest racing car of its day filmed in London 5th November 2022.The rules of the Gordon Bennett race required the car to have all parts made in the country of origin,even through S.F Edge was involved in Dunlop tyres the uk had no decent car tyres at this time,so these cars had many punctures,this car also took part in the 1904 race.Napiers at this time where made in Lambeth London,before moving To Acton in 1904 where they built a successful 6 cylinder engine.S.F Bought ever car Napier could produce at this time selling them on from his showrooms in London at £100 per car more than he paid for them.In 1907 S.F.Edge drove a 60 hp Touring Napier around the newly open Brooklands track in Weybridge surrey for 24 hours the track was had 350 acetylene lanterns placed at 10 yard intervals to light the way in the dark.By now S.F was 39 years old but trained hard for the attempt swimming & cycling to get fit.So after 24 hours Edge & the Napier had covered 1,581 miles at an average speed of 65 miles per hour.S.F Passed away in 1940 a forgotten man & is buried in Tilford Surrey he is well known to have lived in Belvedere road Crystal palace & later in life at the Gallops in Ditchling village there are no blue signs to record the life of this great man.
