Chipper moods at work this past weekend, even if I've been stuck working with a sketchy/bipolar barcode scanner at a local Speedway, and even though the snow being here is basically a repetition of 1991. Also the fact that my phone's "video stabilization" has shaken this video to kingdom come. To be fair, a great big family among my co-workers, as well as a sense of community among the frequent flyers, more than makes up for it. That being said, I received news of a friend of mine, who I have not met in a long time, being on the brink of suicidal depression, so much so that she attempted to take her own life on Sunday. Said friend, while having been an ex-love interest who I've actually fought with before, so happens to be a smol bean. (And us cultured folk know that we must protecc the smol bean.) Today, I had to find a reasonable balance between work and emotional support with the consent of my manager. It was a lot harder to do in practice, but I felt it was necessary. I seriously hope I got through to her. Anyone who is facing hard times and feels the need to take the easy way out, I strongly encourage that you seek the Lifeline (1-800-273-8255), or refer to your therapist, should they still be active. Better yet, being open about your feelings with your friends and/or loved ones can help, as well as finding good aspects of yourself to build upon, among many other things.
