Fender Clone Lap steel Build

This is some rough footage of my very first lap steel build. It is a copy of a 1950's Fender Champion lap steel guitar. I made it out of a 75 year old maple table top. it took 180 hours. Some cnc rough cuts were made but as you can see most of this was done by hand. The pick up was a custom copy of the original made by Lollar - I highly recommend their pickups. The Fender logo plate was very hard to find but I was able to eventually find one on eBay. Thankfully I did as it becomes the nut so it was needed to create this. The metal pickup cover was another eBay find from a 195. The fret board- long story short a co. made this after sending them a file ( they are no longer making them) That beautiful stain was from Stewmac and it was a dye- highly recommend that product.
