Harley Benton MS-60 | Is this €149 Fender Mustang tribute the best budget offset guitar you can get?

The Harley Benton MS-60 might be one of the most affordable offset guitars out there… but is it worth it? I decided to give the guitar a try when a used one came up near me for a bargain price. It’s my first offset guitar, and the MS-60 very obviously pays homage to a number of Fender offsets: the Mustang, the Jaguar, the Jazzmaster, the Musicmaster, the Duo-Sonic…. there’s bits of all of their DNA in the MS-60! That means the MS-60 has all the classic bits you’d need to start your journey into the world of offset guitars: the short scale neck and smaller body, two Roswell single coil pickups with slider on/off switches, and the vibrato/whammy/wiggle stick! Check out the Harley Benton MS-60 at Thomann here: https://bit.ly/HBMS60rwm Now, I wasn’t expecting too much from the guitar before I played it. I wasn’t sure the tuning would hold if I used the whammy, and I imagined the pickups would be brittle and icepicky if I didn’t dial them back. So, I was surprised to find that the MS-60 can do a lot more musically than I expected! (And I guess the Kluson tuners the previous owner put on the guitar helped too.) In this video, I play the standard Rich. Words. Music. riffs across my favorite genres: indie, classic rock, alternative rock, and a bit of heavier stuff too – so we can hear all the different genres you can get stuck into with the MS-60. And, just because this is an offset, I even do some ambient exercises at the end. I used my Wampler Pantheon and Revv G3 pedals for the drive, and my Source Audio Collider delay/reverb pedal for the ambient stuff. That went from the Red Box DI straight into my Focusrite Scarlett 2i4, which went into Logic Pro X. That's it. No post-processing on the sounds was done.
