ST IVES Cornwall - A Virtual Walk around England's Prettiest Seaside Town - 4K Video

Enjoy a walk around St Ives during the golden hour on a perfect Summer morning. Without doubt one of Cornwall's jewels this is the seaside town which all others are judged by. I've lived nearby most of my life and had a lovely time walking all the most interesting and picturesque parts of the town for this video. This former fishing town is renown for its beautiful beaches winding streets lined with whitewashed cottages. Whilst it's pretty much impossible to avoid the beaches I focused on the harbour area (which is a beach!) and the surround streets which form the old Down-a-long part of town. For more info on St Ives, check out: https://www.cornwalls.co.uk/st-ives The historic fishing town of St Ives is the main holiday resort of the Lands End Peninsula and is home to the St Ives School of Painting. Surrounded on all sides by glorious sandy beaches, the old fishing town (Down-a-long) is a jumble of cobbled lanes and quaint cottages in St Ives. In addition to numerous craft shops and galleries are the Barbara Hepworth museum, the Tate Modern Gallery and the Bernard Leach Pottery. St Ives has always attracted writers and artists. Virginia Woolf spent many childhood holidays here. D.H.Lawrence lived for a time in nearby Zennor and entertained other well-known writers of the day such as Katherine Mansfield and John Middleton Murry. Throughout the twentieth century, an artists’ colony flourished. Ben Nicholson, Terry Frost, Patrick Heron and Peter Lanyon are just a few of the names of St Ives painters. Alfred Wallis lived here and is one of the best-known exponents of the primitive school. Porthmeor Beach is popular with surfers and Porthminster Beach is the first of a string of golden beaches stretching along St Ives Bay as far as Godrevy Lighthouse. A mild climate, beautiful beaches and numerous hotels and restaurants make St Ives an ideal venue for family holidays.
