This was by far my most ambitious bike trip in the Sahara: Jon, Andy, and I set off to ride our desert-adapted XR650Ls across Algeria following gnarly mountain tracks and virgin sand sheet out into the legendary Tenere Desert. To extend our range without the need for support, we recovered fuel and water caches buried in the sands months earlier. These enabled us to cover huge distances for days at a time. 'To the Heart of the Sahara on Motorcycles', I called the dvd which appeared on National Geographic Channel. It was not an exaggeration and not surprisingly, things got FUBAR'd. It's the Sahara, after all!
