Steamed fresh fish paired with special sauce that tantalize the taste buds. You can really eat a few bowls of rice with this aromatic and appetising gravy. It is said that the steamed Tilapia fish with this sauce is originated from Ipoh, the capital city of the state of Perak. There were many abandoned tin mines that turned into natural ponds in the early years. Tilapia flourished abundantly in these ponds, making it readily available. Due to its strong muddy taste, few people liked it. Later, some chefs came out with the idea of topping steamed Tilapia with rich seasoned fermented bean paste which removed the muddy taste effectively.
