Wolfgang Van Halen, the son of the late rock legend Eddie Van Halen, and his wife Andraia Allsop, a model and actress, attended the 2024 MusiCares Person of the Year gala in Los Angeles on Friday night. The couple looked stunning and happy as they posed for the cameras and mingled with other celebrities at the event, which honored the singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell. This was the first public appearance of Wolfgang and Andraia since David Lee Roth, the former lead singer of Van Halen, unleashed a profanity-filled rant against Wolfgang on his podcast, ‘The Roth Show’, which he uploaded on YouTube last week. Roth accused Wolfgang of nepotism, claiming that he only got to play bass in Van Halen because of his father, and that he had mistreated some of Roth’s guests at a concert in New York. Roth also said that Wolfgang had fired a woman who worked for his accounting firm, not Roth’s. Roth’s comments sparked a backlash from fans of Van Halen, who defended Wolfgang and praised his musical talent and achievements. Some fans pointed out that Wolfgang is a third-generation professional musician, who played all the instruments on his debut solo album, ‘Mammoth WVH’, and supported a full concert tour with Van Halen when he was only 16 years old. Wolfgang and Andraia did not address Roth’s rant directly, but they seemed to ignore the controversy and enjoy their night at the MusiCares gala. Wolfgang and Andraia got married in 2022, after dating for four years. They met on the set of the movie ‘The Last Song’, where Andraia played the lead role and Wolfgang composed the soundtrack. Wolfgang is the only son of Eddie Van Halen, who co-founded the iconic rock band Van Halen with his brother Alex Van Halen in the early 1970s. Roth joined the band as the lead singer in 1973, and they had a string of hits, such as ‘Jump’, ‘Panama’, and ‘Hot for Teacher’. Roth left the band in 1985, and was replaced by Sammy Hagar. Roth rejoined the band in 2006, and they released their final album, ‘A Different Kind of Truth’, in 2012. Eddie Van Halen died in October 2020, after a long battle with throat cancer. He was 65 years old. Wolfgang paid tribute to his father on social media, calling him the best father he could ever ask for.
