I purchased this particular 'first' clock about 30 years ago... not an unusual or terribly special clock, but it is somewhat imposing at a 52" height. It also kinda got me started with my interest in old clocks. I consider it an old, reliable friend. For those of you that have that interest, you know that you cannot have just one clock. This very typical German regulator I guestimate would date to around 1900 give or take a few years. Unsigned movement fronted by a beautiful 8" porcelain dial with brass centerpiece, and a 5 1/2" brass pendulum bob. Keeps exceptional time over the course of 12 days.
