S2 E31 3d Printed Model Railway Plug Track from Templot

Hello Everyone, I this video I show a brief introduction to the 3d printed track component elements in Templot. Using the recent Templot developments is is possible to 3d print plain track and turnout timbering bases, as well as the chairs to assemble prototypically accurate model railway track elements in any gauge or scale. This subject is vast, the controls in Templot are so comprehensive that it would take a very long video indeed to cover everything. With that in mind, this video shows just the basics and enough to get a newcomer going and ready to explore all of the possibilities. In part 2 of this mini-series I will look at turnouts in detail and cover the 3d printing settings and process. I am sure that there will be those who perceive that this process might be too complicated, rest assured it can be very simple. There is no complex CAD software to learn as Templot will produce the 3d files for a printer directly. The components simply click together, and track formations can be dismantled if required. A great feature, is the webs which hold the timbering elements. These allow the panels to be pinned or screwed down allowing for easy fine adjustment at a later stage if required. To sit alongside this mini-series, I am putting together a downloadable Plug Track 'guide book', which Martin has kindly agreed to host on the Templot web space. I hope to be able to make this available for download by the time Part 2 of the series is published. There's not much there at the moment, but it would be worth bookmarking for future reference. Thanks for watching, James
