Christmas Village 2023 - Polar Express Train, Dept 56 Dickens, Lemax

Year Fifteen!!!! The first year, we set up my little "village" on our dining room table. I had four or five porcelain buildings, some figurines, trees, and a little HO train. We were so proud! The next year my husband built a platform that measured about 5'x5' on our enclosed condo balcony and I was off and running. After some years, we bought a small house with a very small living room where finding space to set up a village was challenging. I saw some people setting up displays on a Christmas tree...so I asked hubby to build me a tree. (He did.) The first time we looked at our current condo, late summer 2021, and stood in the huge living room, we looked at each other and asked, "But what are we going to do with this big room?" Maybe 30 seconds later, I said (with total glee), "My Christmas village!" So, finally, the space to create the Christmas display of my dreams. :-) Our notable addition this year was the ski lift which Jim built from scratch. (I purchased the gondolas from Jagerndorfer USA.) Last year he promised that he'd build one for me "next year" after we expanded to make a ski resort section. There are four sections, or villages if you will, in my display. The largest and the one I love the most is Dept 56 Dickens. Ummm, why yes, I added more buildings, accessories, and figurines this year. If you're a villager, you know it's an addiction. I mean you TELL yourself that you're done...but then you see something else that you MUST have for your village. The other three sections are North Pole (what I call the tree...yes the same tree hubby built years ago), Mill Creek Park, and Vail Ski Resort. There are some Dept 56 buildings, accessories, and figurines here and there, but these three sections are mainly Lemax. I upgraded the little HO train to an S-gauge in 2020. It's an American Flyer (which is now owned by Lionel) Polar Express Flyerchief train.
