"Cash for Trash: How I Made $50 Returning Plastic Bottles!"...

Hello Everyone, What is the Return and Earn Scheme? The Return and Earn scheme is a container deposit scheme introduced in New South Wales (NSW) to reduce litter and promote recycling. It allows individuals to return eligible drink containers for a 10-cent refund each. The scheme aims to decrease the environmental impact of beverage containers and encourage responsible disposal. How It Works: Collect Eligible Containers: Gather eligible drink containers such as most cans, bottles, and cartons made from materials like plastic, glass, aluminum, steel, and liquid paperboard. Containers must be between 150ml and 3 liters. Find a Return Point: Locate a nearby return point using the Return and Earn website or app. There are over 600 return points across NSW, including reverse vending machines, automated depots, and over-the-counter sites. Return the Containers: Take your eligible containers to a return point. Depending on the type of return point, you can either insert the containers into a reverse vending machine or hand them over at a staffed site. Earn Your Refund: Each eligible container is worth a 10-cent refund. You can choose to receive your refund in various forms, such as cash, electronic transfer, or vouchers. Some return points also allow you to donate your refund to a charity. Benefits of Return and Earn: Environmental Impact: Helps reduce litter and promotes recycling, leading to a cleaner environment. Community Engagement: Encourages community participation in recycling and environmental sustainability. Economic Incentive: Provides a financial reward for recycling efforts, motivating more people to participate. Support for Charities: Offers the option to donate refunds to various charities and community organizations. Key Statistics: Over 5 billion containers have been returned since the scheme’s inception in December 2017. Significant reduction in container litter across NSW.
