Vistas, Fanfare Door Samenwerking Sterk

Vistas writen by Martin Ellerby, arranged for fanfare by Luc Vertommen. Performed by Fanfare Door Samenwerking Sterk, conducted by Danny Oosterman in the H. H. Petrus en Pauluskerk in Aarlanderveen (2024). A vista is a scene, view, or panorama. It's what you stop to see when you climb to the top of a mountain, or pull off the road at the "scenic view" rest stop. During this piece DSS will bring you to the Swiss Alps which we will musically visualize the stunning views of the landscape. The piece starts with the “Kleine Scheidegg”, which is the start of a mountain trail. Right at the start you will hear the theme of the mountains, a somewhat bellike echo, which will continue through the whole piece. As we are progressing this trail we see the beautiful vista in front of us. But not much later the serene landscape transforms and we arrive at the Ice Lake (“Eismeer”). Through this cold and harsh environment the summit of the “Mönch” will show which will leave us in awe. But this short intermezzo won’t stop us because the Trümmelbachfälle let us dive into our journey again. This giant waterfall from gletsjer water let us flow up to the “Eiger”. And the Eiger is infamous for its steepness and only experienced climbers have been able to reach the top. But when we finally reach the summit the “Jungfrau” will show itself. This is the highest and most beautiful of all the mountains. But we can’t enjoy it for too long, because the “Sphinx” is just around the corner and after descending via the “Aletschgletscher” we arrive at the “Shilthorn”. This last mountain will conclude our journey, summarizing the whole journey and hopefully leave a beautiful memory of all the Vistas which were created.
