Text: Haggadah (Passover) Music by Jacqueline Rafii (c) 2022 Music Production by Daniel Raijman The heart of the Passover seder is Maggid, or the retelling of the story of Exodus. The Maggid portion of the seder begins with the recitation of Ha Lachma Anya, an Aramaic text that explains the significance of Matzah. In the Persian tradition, it is customary to sing the seder order (Kadesh, Urchatz, Karpas, Yachatz....) followed immediately by Ha Lachma Anya during the Maggid. I heard beautiful Persian melodies of these texts growing up. In celebration of the vast diversity of cultures in our global Jewish community, and our unifying values of opening our hearts and homes to those in need, here is a new hybrid Persian/Sephardic/Ashkenazic melody for Ha Lachma Anya.
