This custom design home was built in 2012 by the present owners as an homage to their global travels but truly speaks of their love of Mexico. The main house is reached by a gentle walk along a rose garden. Suddenly you are embraced by the two wings of a U shaped grand loggia with sweeping views of the Sierra Madre Mountains as well as Lake Chapala and the village of San Juan Cosala. It features 2 of the 6 fireplaces in this magnificent house many carved of Cantera stone. In fact all the Cantera stone in the trims, columns and fireplaces was chosen from the same quarry to match exactly. Entering thru the grand entrance you are in a stunning 14’ high living room. The blue of this room was inspired by Monet's home in Paris. All of the flooring in this house is encaustic cement tiles. Each tile handmade and colored with mineral pigments and are works of art in their own right. Moving to the South from the living room there is a barrel vaulted hallway leading to the kitchen. There is a large light flooded dish and pantry room and a maid cleaning supply room off this hallway. The word chefs kitchen is overused, but NOT in this case. It features 2 side by side refrigerator freezers, 2 sinks, 2 ovens and 2 cooktops AND in the center is a solid custom tiled island bigger than my first student apartment. The groined and vaulted ceiling was inspired by a trip to Spain and was a loving artisan creation never seen lakeside before 2012. A twin dome is in the connected Den with another fireplace flanked by a Romeo AND a Juliet Balcony facing the east with side views of the lake. Continuing to the south of the Den you enter a full bath with magnificent Mexican tiles and then to the first Guest room. South facing windows look to the lake and mount Garcia with a Juliet Balcony looking down to the entry courtyard. Pampered guests have their own mini fridge you can stock with gourmet goodies. This is truly a dream life and there is MORE. Thru this room heading back to the grand loggia is a domed stair well that takes you to a lower level where there is second guest suite and bath exactly the same as its twin but with a door onto its own terrace. Also a sparkling 2 car garage with tool bench AND a workshop AND a full bath JUST for the gardeners use and a side entrance into the drive. Back Upstairs we continue through the stair well and enter the dining wing of the loggia. Sunset views of the lake and a custom dyed blue leather hand tooled hacienda dining chairs and parotta table inlayed with turquoise stones. Crossing the sitting area of the loggia we are back at the main entrance and into the living room again. The living room fireplace is flanked by 2 French doors that lead out to the “star” terrace. Plexi roofed its supports are covered with blooming jasmine vines. You can actually drive your car up to this terrace for ease of unloading groceries to the nearby pantry and it has its own grilling area. Off the living room is a half bath with a soaring ceiling and a hand carved Cantera fountain style wash basin. This leads to the present owners sewing room that looks through the star terrace to the lake and also to the back garden. It has another fireplace (#5 if you are keeping count) a walk in closet AND a STEAM ROOM. Yes you heard me a steam room. Off the living room is an office study with built-in library bookcases and a sliding window to the back garden. Then we enter the MASTER SUITE. It features a romantic canopy bed, a sitting area, a wall fireplace and its own loggia entrance. Step out into the north wing of the loggia and you have a table for morning coffee and a view of the side garden with fountain. The master bedroom leads into a spa bathroom with Jacuzzi tub, 2 HUGE walk in closets AND a laundry room with leads again into the back garden. Casa Daniels has solar electrical to keep operating costs down. It also has thermal water that makes the water heaters redundant and supplies your own master bedroom spa.
