Milstein and De Sabata Brahms Violin Concerto 1950 NY Philharmonic

Another recording of a master at work - Nathan Milstein, violin, with the NY Philharmonic guest conducted by Victor de Sabata on March 19th, 1950. This is not the highest quality recording in the archive, but still Milstein’s glassy tones and incredible technique shine through. Of note - he is playing his own credenza in the first movement, as briefly explained by Jim Fassett in the slightly truncated intro. This recording was ultimately released on vinyl in several forms that appear to now be on YouTube (along with other radio recordings like this one).
