Testing a Mossberg Patriot .300 Win. Mag. two 20 round groups with different ammo. That is right 40 rounds for you to see. First Not a very expensive fire arm this is not a $6000.00 custom this is a off the shelf $500.00 Mossberg. Today this firearm is a little cheaper then when we bought it. We purchased the Patriot rifle with a scope. We removed the scope added a Vortex Scope that was worth twice what the firearm was. And went to test it. Obviously the first clean bore and cold bore shot was a little different. Not a bad group either way. For either ammo Many rounds touch. If we changed targets between groups I have no doubt we would show some tight 3 or 4 round groups. But we do not pull our punches this is the good bad and ugly. Total group and a test and variation that is repeatable to the end user. Please note Rifle is held semi floating. Therefore when it recoils the cushy but pad impedes rifle from settling. If you can remove cushy butt pad when testing Rifle returns to battery position with no variation. But due to the cushy butt pad. Rifle can deviate slightly between rounds. Therefore some slight adjustment was needed between rounds. Please note when testing rifles with floating barrels you can not securely hold rifle over fore stock. This will change harmonics and end results. That factor and the cushy butt pads makes it difficult to hold rifle so it does not deviate. a .001 deviation at the bench transfers to 3.5" at 100 yards our machine is better then .015 max deviation at 100 yards. The issue has always been holding rifle securely but not changing harmonics or vibrations. Therefore the way we hold the rifle is repeatable to the end user. Our motto is Recoil and vibration can not be stopped it must be repeatable controlled. This machine and clamping method allows rifle to function as if in your hand. Group was actually done at 90 yards laser ranged. We could not make it to 100 that day due to the incline of the terrain we were on. Comment like and share.
