This is the story of Punjabi popstar Dilbagh Singh and few others like him who grew up in Tilak Vihar in New Delhi. They are the survivors of 1984 anti-Sikh riots. In the riots after the assassination of Indira Gandhi on 31 October, 1984 almost 3000 sikhs were killed in Delhi. These are the official figures. The families who lost their loved ones were resettled in Tilak Vihar in New Delhi. But the survivors had to deal with problems of drug addiction, mental trauma and depression. Those who were in their teens in 1984 could never do anything with their lives, they are the Generation 1984.
