No, Puri Jaganath Temple is popular as the temple with the largest kitchen in the world. Ananda Vasudeva Temple in Bhubaneswar also has a huge kitchen complex with 19 kitchens on one side of the temple itself. We were in Bhubaneswar, the temple city of India, and we got the opportunity to visit Lingraj temple and Ananda Vasudeva Temple. At the temple, we met Ranjan Swami who is in charge of one of the temple kitchens. He told us all about the specialty of the temple and the food served as Prasad. It is amazing that they have kept the age-old traditions alive even today. Fire from the temple sanctum is used to light the stove in these kitchens. Cooking goes on side by side in five stoves. Rice, Daal and curries are cooked continuously. Ranjan Swami was an expert in his task. After watching the temple food cooking, we got the chance to taste it as well. There were three types rice, daal, and some mixed vegetable curries. It was totally different from our food. But it was a fulfilling experience to taste the divine food from a traditional kitchen.
