Prime Minister Justin Trudeau holds a news conference in Toronto to mark opening of Sanofi’s new vaccine manufacturing facility. He is joined by Ontario Premier Doug Ford, federal Mental Health and Addictions Minister Ya’ara Saks, Ontario Health Minister Sylvia Jones, Ontario Economic Development Minister Vic Fedeli and Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow. The state-of-the-art facility is backed by a $20-million federal investment and is expected to create over 200 jobs and support and maintain over 1000 jobs in Ontario. The prime minister comments on the recent incidents of shots fired at Jewish schools in Montreal and Toronto. Responding to questions from reporters, Trudeau discusses efforts to combat foreign interference in Canada’s political system and reports of an increase in harassment targeting members of Parliament. The prime minister, Premier Ford and Mayor Chow comment on the increase in antisemitic incidents across the country and ways to address the issue.
