Today Lietoc and I are joined by longtime friend of the show, Alex Kent. Before there was a TBD, in Spring 2019, Alex, April, Sylvie and Max cruised through Studio A for a lowkey live-in studio as Sprain, an ever-mutable, sonic FORCE. Since then, Sprain have become an aggressive one-of-a-kind performative force in LA music. They signed to the Flenser in late 2019 and came through with As Lost Through Collision in 2020, an album that met the sweet spot of Unwound's nihilism & Codeine's heavy raw intensity. Since emerging post-COVID, Sprain's been on a rigorous road test of material and ideas, opening with the likes of Otoboke Beaver & Dummy, while taking their live show and turning it into a 97 minute double LP The Lamb As Effigy or Three Hundred And Fifty XOXOXOS For A Spark Union With My Darling Divine. It's out September 1st on the Flenser. They're playing a release show on September 3rd at the Moroccan Lounge in LA.
