Haverford College Customs Program

One of Haverford College's unique traditions is the Customs Program, our year-long first-year orientation. Over the course of the year, nearly 80 upperclass students work to support, in a multiplicity of ways, 350+ first-year students in their transition to college life. Customs is an important part of the glue that brings the community together by providing a common base of experience. It familiarizes students with the system of student self-governance and the honor code. It is a time to learn from and about each others differences, backgrounds, and experiences. It provides everyone the space to settle in and begin the college-experience by engaging each other in fun and interactive ways that promote healthy community. Over the course of the year, Customs also helps first-year students figure out what they want to do and how they can get there.
