Augustin Hadelich and the 1744 Guarneri del Gesù "Leduc, Ex-Szeryng", loaned through Tarisio Trust

One the finest and most valuable violins in the world, the ‘Leduc’ Guarneri ‘del Gesú’, has been given on extended loan to the German–American violinist Augustin Hadelich. Giuseppe Guarneri ‘del Gesú’ and his contemporary Antonio Stradivari are widely considered to be the greatest violin makers in history. Made in Cremona, Italy, and dating from circa 1744, the ‘Leduc’ was one of the last violins to be made by ‘del Gesú’. For over 30 years, it was the favorite instrument of the Polish violin virtuoso Henryk Szeryng, who died in 1988, and has not been heard in public since then. Thirty years later, the ‘Leduc’ has found a worthy successor in the Grammy-winning soloist, Hadelich. The ‘Leduc’ is to be loaned exclusively and for an extended period of time to Hadelich through the Tarisio Trust, the patronage arm of the fine instrument dealer and auctioneer, Tarisio. The violin can be heard in the spring of 2020 in Hadelich’s concert tours as soloist with the orchestras of Detroit, Helsinki, Portland (OR), Cologne, Oslo, Iceland, Montréal, Minneapolis, Munich, Toronto and many others. With many thanks to the Detroit Symphony Orchestra for the video footage.
