Thangar Bachan Directed Movies. Thangar Bachan cinematographer Movies. Thangar Bachan (born 1961) is an Indian film director and actor, cinematographer and novelist. He has served as jury member in National Film Awards. Thankar Bachan was born in Pathirakottai, a village near Panruti, Cuddalore district, Tamil Nadu. Bachan started his career as a cinematographer in debut film Malai Charal. He was known for his work in Mogamul and Bharathi. He made his directorial debut in Azhagi. Apart from films he occasionally contribute on literary works. His novels include Onbathu Roobai Nottu and Ammavin Kai Pesi. He eventually made these novel into films in his own direction. Thankar Bachan was known for his contribution in portraying North Tamil Nadu villages which was not depicted in Tamil cinema properly. His story plots were set mostly at Panruti and surrounding villages. After Bharathiraja, villages were best portrayed in Thangar Bachan movies. Bharathiraja himself declared that after him Bachan directs the best village films. Azhagi is a 2002 Indian Tamil-language romantic drama film written and directed by Thangar Bachan in his directoral debut, based on his short story "Kalvettugal". The film stars Parthiban, Nandita Das and Devayani. It was released on 14 January 2002 and won the Filmfare Award for Best Film – Tamil. The film was remade in Telugu as Letha Manasulu in 2004. Solla Marandha Kadhai is a 2002 Indian Tamil-language film written and directed by Thangar Bachan. The film stars Cheran and Rathi. It is based on Nanjil Nadan's novel Thalaikeezh Vigithangal. The film was released on 4 November 2002. Thendral (transl. Breeze) is a 2004 Indian Tamil-language drama film directed by Thangar Bachan and produced by V. Ravichandran. The film stars Parthiban and Uma, with Rajashree in a pivotal role. It was released on 5 February 2004. Pallikoodam (transl. School) is a 2007 Indian Tamil language film directed and cinematographed by Thangar Bachchan. Sneha, Narain, Sneha, Sriya Reddy, Seeman and the director himself form the cast. Sneha plays a teacher named Kokila, Narain plays Vetrivel, a collector, Sriya Reddy plays a nurse and Seeman plays Muthu. The film deals with four different periods – 1978, 1983, 1991 and 2004. Onbadhu Roobai Nottu is a 2007 Tamil-language drama film directed by Thangar Bachan, based on Bachan's own same-titled novel. It depicts the tragic life and fall of Madhava Padayachi, a simple villager, played by Sathyaraj, and his family.
