A tribute to Thorin Oakenshield from The Hobbit trilogy, played by Richard Armitage. I wanted to make an edit to the Hobbit movies since I really like them and I feel like Thorin would be the best fit to my editing style. Usually transformation videos are made chronologically, however I felt like that would be really awkward here, considering the way films are structured and there are three of them. So instead I went with a transformation in themes, I showcased the way Thorin's personality transformed over the course of the 3 movies, using scenes that showcased that best. It doesn't mean I will only use scenes from a certain time period, but rather ones that fit thematically. I started off with Thorin being a loyal friend with honour and respect for those that show it to him, next I went into how everyone doubts his mission and how Thorin slowly becomes more arrogant, while remaining the respect he has for his friends. It slowly evolves into more and more arrogance until all he cares about is the gold inside the mountain. Dwalin then tells him that he can’t see what he has become (title of the song) which makes Thorin second guess himself. At the climax of the music Thorin regains his honour and decides he has to fight for his friends. Unfortunately he suffers from a fatal wound and his last words are him trying to redeem himself.
