A New Way to Trim Goat Hooves, Cordless Angle Grinder

We dread trimming our goats' hooves with shears as the goats HATE it and brand new shears seem to dull by goat number two. We have not found a good way to sharpen the shears necessitating new shears on a constant basis. So I am experimenting with a new method on our farm. We had seen the expensive electric hoof trimmers online, and it got us to thinking that they look a lot like an angle grinder, which not only costs a fraction of the price, but is also much more versatile. In this video, I am testing out our theory that using a cordless angle grinder will work well to trim the hooves. Please use caution if you intend to replicate this process. The angle grinder tends to walk around a bit, and if you are not accustomed to using such a tool, you may injure yourself or the animal. This 4.5 inch grinder does allow you to do the whole hoof at once making it nice and even when done correctly.
