🎵 Nearer My God to Thee - Organ Performance by Manuel Böhm 🎵 I'm back in the amazing Gothic "Elisabeth Church" in Marburg. It is the oldest Gothic church in Germany and was built between 1235-83 over the grave of Saint Elisabeth (1207-1231). Due to the burial place of Saint Elisabeth, the church was formerly a pilgrimage church and served as the burial place of the Hessian landgraves and was an important church of the Teutonic Order. The church's old choir room is currently being restored. Today I'm happy to introduce you to my arrangement of "Nearer My God to Thee", a Christian hymn by Sarah Flower Adams from the 19th-century that retells the story of Jacob's dream from Genesis 28: 11–12.
