Reggae Strong—Third World '86 (abridged)

Third World was Reggae Strong's pilot program, the episode that got the series on the air. This particular program combines one of our earliest shoots from 1984 (the nyabinghi session at the end), with an interview and studio session shot at E.A.R.S. Studio in East Orange, New Jersey, in 1986. Because of copyright restrictions, I've had to remove the band's promo videos that were featured in the original program. Sadly, Bunny Rugs, Ibo Cooper and director Stafford Ashani (asking questions off-camera), are no longer with us, but the remaining members of this line-up of Third World, Richard Daley, Cat Coore and Willie Stewart are still making music and going strong. Featured in the drumming session also are master musicians Ras Tschaka Tonge and Junior Wedderburn. Also included in this program is a cooking segment featuring Jah Byron, who sometimes appeared in our "Ital Feast" feature. Rest in peace, fallen brethren and many thanks to all who participated in this program.
