His eyes blue as lakes, a slender, straight nose, golden brown hair cut in a shoulder-length bob, and a disconcertingly androgynous look that is very much in vogue. Oliver Sonne, just seventeen, is astonishingly photogenic and already has the makings of a cover-boy. Vogue Hommes made no mistake in offering him his first cover, photographed by Inez & Vinoodh. Oliver just happens to be the nephew of Helena Christensen, the exquisite emerald green-eyed Danish beauty, who became legendary as one of the original super models (alongside Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista, Stephanie Seymour and Christy Turlington). Herb Ritts turned her into an icon when he shot the black-and-white Chris Isaak video Wicked Games, in which she oozes sensuality in the crooner's arms, her amber skin covered in sand. Her six-foot nephew has great admiration and respect for his aunt's career. "She's incredible, and so inspiring." Now Helena Christensen heads behind the camera, practising her passion for photography which she learnt from the greatest. For Vogue Hommes, she shot her nephew Oliver Sonne in the streets of New York. On a découvert son visage placardé sur les murs de Paris au crépuscule de l’été. Des yeux bleus comme des lacs, un nez aquilin, un carré châtain mordoré en bataille ponctué d’un bob en crochet, une androgynie troublante et très dans l’air du temps… Oliver Sonne, dix–sept ans à peine, exhale une photogénie miracu-leuse et déjà l’étoffe d’un cover–boy. Vogue Hommes ne s’y est pas trompé en lui offrant sa première couverture sous l’objectif de Inez & Vinoodh. Avant cela, le jour de noël 2016 précisément, c’est lors d’un anniversaire en famille à Copenhague que le jeune éphèbe a été repéré par Cesar Perin de l’agence Unsigned. Signe particulier : Oliver est le neveu d’Helena Christensen, bombe anatomique au regard émeraude, figure légendaire de l’escadron des supermodels (aux côtés de Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista, Stephanie Seymour et autre Christy Turlington), déifiée en noir et blanc par Herb Ritts dans la vidéo « Wicked Game » de Chris Isaak, lascive dans les bras du crooner, sa peau ambrée panée de sable. Du haut de son mètre quatre–vingt–quatre, Oliver toise la carrière de sa tante avec admiration et respect. « Elle est incroyable et tellement inspirante ». A ses heures perdues, Helena Christensen passe désormais derrière l’objectif, entretenant sa passion pour la photographie, qu’elle a appris avec les plus grands.
