SMW ǀ Unintended Exits ǀ Yoshi’s House, secret exit [RTA]

Join SMW Discord:   / discord   Discord: The_Unintended_Gamer This is my attempt at a tutorial explaining how to perform unintended exits in Super Mario World. Super Mario World is a notoriously glitchy game, allowing the player to go beyond what was intended by the game designers. Normally, there is a total of 96 exits in the game. Over the years, dedicated gamers discovered several unintended exits (see https://pastebin.com/wqk0KfbM for list). I want to find novel unintended exits. It is known that triggering a normal exit in Yoshi’s House using the Orb yields an additional exit, the so-called 99th exit (see    • SMW ǀ Unintended Exits ǀ Yoshi’s Hous...   and    • SMW ǀ Unintended Exits ǀ Yoshi’s Hous...   for tutorial). Here, I want to trigger a secret exit in Yoshi’s House to see if this could give an additional exit. For this, I used unintendedly spawned Keyhole and Key in the ‘level’. This glitch requires a lot of Powerup Incrementation (see    • SMW ǀ Unintended Powerup State (Power...   for a tutorial) to get Mario at Unintended PowerUp Status (between 4 and 255) to be able to spawn the Keyhole and the Key. Basically, Mario has to be at Power Status 211 to get the Keyhole in the Reserve Item box. After dying to reset our Power Status while preserving our Item box, Mario is brought to Power Status 128. This allows Mario to get a Winged Key in the Item box when collecting a Mushroom. First, we have to perform the Powerup Incrementation glitch to get Mario at Power Status 8. At Power Status 8, go to Yoshi’s Island 2 to get the Key in the item box (see    • SMW ǀ Unintended Item Spawning ǀ (Win...   for tutorial). After, repeat Powerup Incrementation to go to Power Status 211. This Power Status allows Mario to spawn a Keyhole in the item box when collecting a Feather (see    • SMW ǀ Unintended Item Spawning ǀ Keyh...   for tutorial). Go to the Top Secret Area without Yoshi. Spawn the Yoshi and used it to grab the Winged Key in the item without being hurt. Leave the Key and Yoshi on the left and the right side of the central block respectively. Hit the left Feather block. Quickly, go on top of the Feather blocks and jump to catch to floating Feather. Try not to touch any input when collecting the Feather. Being at Power Status 211, Mario now has a Keyhole in the item box. Mario now has a Keyhole in the item box. Die in a pit to reset Mario’s Power Status while preserving the Item box. After collecting a Feather, bring Mario to Power Status 128. Normally, one cannot get any Powerup item spawned in Yoshi’s House. After eating ten Berries, Yoshi lays an egg spawning a Mushroom. So, we have to glitch several Berries in Yoshi’s House to ‘duplicate’ Berries to get to ten in the end. This is based on an excellent tutorial from Pandabear314 (See    • Yoshi's House RTA Explaination  . After Yoshi laid his egg, the keyhole is spawned from the Item box and Mario collects the Mushroom, yielding a winged key in the item box. Before spawning the key, eat all glitched Berries, otherwise, the Keyhole will disappear. After triggering Yoshi’s House secret exit, the path between Yoshi’s Island 1 and the Yellow Switch Palace is being cleared. However, the path is blocked and Mario cannot go upward to the Palace. In fact, Yoshi’s House secret exit triggered in fact the normal exit of Yoshi’s Island1. So, this unintended exit is not so useful. Hope this video can help you in your quest to master SMW famous (and awesome) glitches. My setup: I use an original Japanese Super Mario World cartridge played on a Super Retro Trio 3 Console (PAL version); I thus played in Real-Time Attack [RTA] without Saved States. Video and sound captured using a ‘Dazzle’ and ‘EasyCAP’ USB adapters (Composite signals) and ‘Debut’ software. Video editing done using Shotcut free software. #SMW #Glitch #Tutorial
