As Naga tribals, we have been told over and over again that we are Warriors and should live our lives honourably to respect and honour our ancestors in the Land that God has given us. And that we are to be hospitable, honest and brave - virtues easily ascribed to but hard to live by everyday. This song is a testament and reminder to be or at least try to be the Honourable Naga Warrior that we are meant to be - in words and in deed and be an inspiration to others. We take pride in our land, culture, songs, food and the warmth that is so characteristic of every Naga. We welcome visitors and guests to enjoy and respect our ways and the gifts of our land. We remind every Naga to be a protector, friend and stand up for the truth - the measures of a true warrior. We can be warriors in so many ways everyday! The Challenge is set. Be the best version of yourself everyday. We praise and thank God everyday for the music. This song took at least 6 months to visualise and shape up but in the end, a couple of weeks to become what it is now and somehow, everything just fell into place. We launched the first official LIVE performance of this song at the Opening Ceremony of the 2022 Hornbill Festival Edition and it received much love. Thank you to TAFMA for the platform. Hornbill Festival is our home ground in many ways - we have literally grown our art and music at various stages of the Festival over the years and yes, performing at Hornbill Festival will always be special and memorable. We hope to see you all at the Festival soon. Based on the traditional Chokri Naga Word - Sofüneko - meaning “beloved” - who is the centre of a Warrior’s Universe, this song talks about valour, love and the warmth of being a Naga Warrior and how our lands are a refuge and comfort to many. The “Beloved” could be a person or the land the Warrior has sworn to protect. They say Warriors are made and not born and we hope this song inspires the making of many Warriors.
