On Saturday, June 13, 2020 the Norfolk Southern towed the N&W 2156 through Illinois on her way back home to the Museum of Transportation in St. Louis. The steam engine had been on loan to a museum in Virginia for the last 5 years. We catch up to the train first in Sidney IL and spend the next 3 hours following the train west to Decatur. 25mph was the max speed for this move, so the chase was an easy one. The N&W Y6a locomotive holds the record for the strongest steam locomotive ever made, having even more traction effort than the Big Boy. Video scenes are as follows: Sidney IL, Pacing between Philo and Tolono IL, Crossing the diamond with the CN at Tolono, Pacing outside Sadoris IL, Drone scene between Ivesdale and Bement IL, Drone scene at Bement along with intermodal train 21T right behind on the other track, D36 (Decatur to Bloomington-Normal local) and N&W 2156 at Oakley IL, Going into the yard in Decatur (the steam leak heard on the pipe nearby was a nice touch). For the drone scenes, I had to dub in some sound from other clips, as the drone only records video, and I didn't have an audio recorder going. Enjoy! -Caleb
